Family Seeks Judge's Decision For Custody Of Daughter
This story tells of intended parents Gwen and Tom Lamintina who are trying to gain custody of their two month daughter born to a surrogate mother.
The surrogate mother refuses to give up custody and wants Gwen and Tom to pay child support. Unfortunately, when Gwen Tom and the surrogate mother, Stephanie Eckard, went into the surrogacy arrangement the surrogate mother, Stephanie, did not sign the surrogacy contract. Couples with leftover embryos face ethical, legal dilemma
What should you do with your left over embryos? There aren't too many choices. You can donate to another couple. You can freeze them. There is a ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research so donating them to science might not be an option. Another option is to destroy them.
